God Sends His Angels

Your girl here in Mangomarca has survived her first week being a trainer! There aren't many things to say... mostly just that I'm grateful for the knowledge of a loving Heavenly Father. He knows us better than we will ever know. I'm grateful for the heart that He has given me... that I find joy in the work... that I love these people... because if I didn't have that... well, things would be a lot harder. This week I have learned so much about trusting the Lord, that this is His work, that He is in every detail. There is no way I could do this work without His strength. It is His power that helps my Spanish, it is His power that keeps me healthy, it is His Spirit that touches people's hearts and heals their souls. There are some lyrics to a song that I listened to this week that just hit home... I will stand as a witness of God. I will carry His love in my heart. I will serve, I will pray. I will walk in His ways Till the work that He gave me is done. I didn't si...

That One Time When They All Left Me

So transfers are happening again... have no idea how that happened so fast... I am the only hermana staying in Mangomarca... I am happy to stay but sad to see them all leave. My new compañera is new... Hermana Guerra... I am very excited and also terrified, so pray for your girl. We had Hermana Carmen's baptism on Friday, which was just so pure and lovely. We started teaching her a week into this transfer, and it's been a blessing to see her change her life. I am always in awe and amazement at the amount of love I feel for these people. Their covenants with the Savior are a reminder of how special they are; they are a gift that should be cherished and held close to one's heart. I, like everyone else, loved General Conference. I came away with such a grateful heart and feel an abundance of gratitude to be able to be one of the Lord's missionaries at this time. To be able to testify that Jesús Christ lives. He lives for you. He is your Savior and your Redeemer. That has m...

Walter × 2

Hello, happy April! So today was P-day because we got to go to the temple! That was the best thing of my life! Did my first endowment in Spanish and it's just as beautiful as English. I'm truly grateful for the temple, the sacredness of the temple is so out of the ordinary for Perú, it was a need for sure. We did a little servicio and got to hike up a cerro... don’t have the best picture but the view was to die for! Walter #1 We are teaching a man named Walter whose wife and son are both members of the church. He has felt a very large pull to follow their examples and be baptized. The lessons in their home are some of my favorites, he is always very grateful for the lessons we have and the spirit that we bring into their home. When we were talking about baptism, we asked him if Jesús was here right now and asked you to be baptized, what would you say... we all sat there for what felt like a year, it was really only ten seconds... but the spirit was tangible when he said yes. I ...

What Do You Know About Fire Alarms

BUENAS! Wow, this week went by so fast I can't even believe it! Once again, I am in shock of the way the Lord guides our lives as missionaries. On the 19th, we had our plan and both of our backup plans fall through and decided to take a more relaxed way of contacting, and just get to know some people in the park. I kid you not guys, the first lady that we talked to was a miracle. She had been taught by missionaries previously and her información got lost when she moved. She was so excited to be talking with us, we ended up having a lesson with her right then and there. AND not one but 2 ladies from the ward ended up passing by and joined our lesson. God's truly got a plan. Sometimes we just can't see it right when we are in the middle of it. But every time I look back, I see the Lord guiding my every step. And that alone is a blessing. I've had many people tell me that we as missionaries are angels, and we are sacrificing so much to be here, and how hard it must be to b...

Would You Go?

Image
Ahhhh hello all!! This week flew by, and was so full of miracles! We had zone conference this week, which was amazing! We talked about finding the one and how far we would go to find the one. If the Lord asked you to go to the moon, would you go? This had me thinking a lot about my relationship with the Savior — how far would I go... apparently Perú... but how in tune am I with the Spirit to be led and find the people that the Lord has been preparing... I just have this little scripture I want to share. It's Alma 22:18: “O God,” he prayed, “Aaron hath told me that there is a God; and if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee." I love this last part... I will give away all my sins to know thee... to know the Savior... to know His heart... to KNOW HIM. We have the opportunity to know Him if we will just turn our sins, our burdens, our hearts over to Him. Don't you want to know Him? That's m...

Whys It So Quiet

Well, what do you know about transfers... because that happened. They took me out of my little Los Postes, and I'll never forget that place; it has a piece of my heart. I will never forget walking for hours looking for an apartment... sugared peanuts... fruit hauls... how the heavens opened when we would have companionship study... smiling so hard my face hurt. It was truly a blessing for me to start my mission in this area. This week went a little something like this... Monday, we had a going-away party for Hermana Mackay, and I had to tell the members that I was leaving too... tears were shed, and it was so sad. Tuesday, I said goodbye to Hermana Mackay for the day because she spends the last day with President and Hermana Porter. So, Hermana Hardy and I went home, packed, said peace to the zone... talked about everything... and then THE BEST THING... we got to go to the temple with Hermano Marco for his first time. Truly a blessing to be able to have that last night. Wednesday w...

Do I Look Like A Walking Green Card To You!?

So many things have happened this week I don't even know where to start. There is this girl that I have heard so much about—her name is Kati, and she is a recent convert of about six months. About three months ago, she found out she had cancer and just finished her treatments three weeks ago. Hermana Mackay would tell us about the times they would go over and read scriptures or play the guitar, but most of all, how much this girl loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We hadn't been able to see her the entire transfer until Tuesday. Kati's older sister is in the Young Women’s presidency, so she fills us in on how she's doing and if there's anything we can do to help. She told us Monday that Kati didn't want anything to do with the church, but she wanted to talk to us. So, we went over and started talking about what was going on. She just kept saying, "Why me? Why did I have to go through this?" I cried through most of her lesson. Since that day, we have sen...
