Do I Look Like A Walking Green Card To You!?

Image
So many things have happened this week I don't even know where to start. There is this girl that I have heard so much about—her name is Kati, and she is a recent convert of about six months. About three months ago, she found out she had cancer and just finished her treatments three weeks ago. Hermana Mackay would tell us about the times they would go over and read scriptures or play the guitar, but most of all, how much this girl loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We hadn't been able to see her the entire transfer until Tuesday. Kati's older sister is in the Young Women’s presidency, so she fills us in on how she's doing and if there's anything we can do to help. She told us Monday that Kati didn't want anything to do with the church, but she wanted to talk to us. So, we went over and started talking about what was going on. She just kept saying, "Why me? Why did I have to go through this?" I cried through most of her lesson. Since that day, we have sen...

This Week.....

Alo everyone, how are you all!? This week has been crazy and not all at the same time! We had our first intercambio this week. Hermana Hardy and I ended up staying in our area with another gringa in her training too, so the three of us just hoofed it around Perú. Luckily, Heavenly Father blessed Hermana Hardy with the gift of tongues and blessed me with the gift of remembering where everyone lives, so... we would call that a success! We had meetings with President Porter this week too, and it was much needed. We spent time talking about how God doesn't give up on His children. Even when they turn their backs on Him, He continues to work in their lives. I was also thinking about the Savior and how, during His life on earth, He was perfect, so of course, He would be perfect at saving us too. Let me tell you about one of my favorite people... his name is Ricardo... he got baptized two weeks ago... and he's a different person now... yesterday, he got the priesthood, and we get to g...

Milagros, Lessons, And A Little Embarrassment

Buenos días! I hope you are all doing well, and this week was everything you needed it to be! I can't even believe that it's already día de preparación again—time is going by so fast! This week was amazing—so many milagros! The first part of this week was pretty slow. We have had quite a few stomach issues, but they have all resolved. That meant we were home quite a bit. On Tuesday, the only thing we were able to go to was ward council, which was super weird. I was sitting there and realized that these people actually don't know who I am, and I'm really sitting in a random ward in Perú with these people I don't really know but adore with my whole heart. Hermana Porter, our mission president’s wife, accompanied us on Wednesday for two hours. We visited the mother of our most recent convert, Ricardo. It was the sweetest lesson. She just said how grateful she was that Ricardo had found our church and how much she has seen him grow and change. It is truly a testimony to...

Remember That One Time...

Ahhhhhh, everyone hi! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great week! It was a packed week for us, so here are some of the highlights! We started the week with conferencia de zona. My biggest takeaway was to let the scriptures penetrate your heart. I loved this so much! Allow them to change who you are. The Book of Mormon is truly one of the greatest gifts, to truly know the Savior and His mercy through the lives and testimonies of prophets called of God. On Tuesday, we found out that some sisters in our misión have lice... and they came to zona conferencia without trying to get rid of it... and... I sat right next to them... We found out and immediately checked our hair... we do not have lice! I was reading in Jacob 4, and in verse 12 it says: "And now, beloved, marvel not that I tell you these things, for WHY NOT speak of the Atonement of Christ, and attain to a perfect knowledge of Him..." I just love this. Why not? Why would we not want to learn all we can of the Savior—Hi...
